A Letter from the Founder
Iliós Tea Studio began with a single, necessary question: What happened to the leaf?
I looked at the industry and saw a beautiful, ancient plant being treated as a mere commodity crushed into dust, hidden within bleached fibres, and sealed with synthetic glues. The ritual had been lost to the machine, and the plant's purity had been compromised.
I founded Iliós to strip all of that away. I believe that tea is a living record of the earth, and it deserves to be seen. By rejecting the bag and the industrial shortcut, I have sought to restore the bridge between the garden and your cup. I want you to see the leaf, to watch it unfurl, and to know exactly what you are breathing in.
Whether you are practising the slow, meditative ritual of our Studio whole leaves or enjoying the bold, vibrant energy of our Collection blends, my signature is my personal guarantee to you.
P.S. By choosing Orthodox methods, we ensure the leaf is never crushed. This helps preserve naturally occurring compounds such as L-theanine, EGCG catechins, and polyphenols.
No bags. No glue. No dust. Just the honest, unbroken spirit of the leaf.
Respect the leaf, and it will reward you.
N Benny

Frequently Asked Questions
Orthodox tea is the antithesis of industrial speed. It is a traditional whole-leaf method where each leaf is carefully hand-plucked and gently processed to preserve its natural form, essential oils, and character. Unlike mass-produced teas, which are crushed, torn, and curled for uniformity, the Orthodox process respects the rhythm of nature.
Because our leaves remain unbroken, they retain the delicate compounds that industrial processing often destroys. By preserving the leaf's integrity, we ensure a steady, controlled release of nutrients that promotes metabolic balance and provides a clean, sustained energy lift without the "crash" of lower-grade teas.
Whole leaves are naturally rich in polyphenols and antioxidants that support cellular vitality. By rejecting industrial "dust" and fannings, we ensure your cup is free from artificial additives and micro-inflammatory triggers, delivering the plant just as nature intended.
This is the result of L-theanine, a naturally occurring amino acid found in high concentrations in whole-leaf tea. It promotes mental clarity and relaxation, creating a state of focus that is absent in highly processed, high-tannin industrial teas.
Yes. In the industrial tea world, "natural flavours" are lab-created oils used to make stale, low-grade dust taste fresh. At Iliós, we reject these synthetics. We believe the true flavour should come from the terroir—the soil, elevation, and climate of the garden where the leaf was grown.
Yes. Pure, whole-leaf tea is alkaline and gentle on the system. It aids in digestive comfort and encourages a balanced, settled gut, whereas industrial tea dust can often be overly acidic and abrasive.
We offer clean, honest tea. Every decision is guided by respect for the leaf and the person drinking it. By using only whole leaves, we eliminate the need for bleached paper bags, plastic glues, and synthetic flavouring oils, ensuring a tea experience that is pure, elevated, and absolute.
The Studio Collection represents the pinnacle of botanical integrity. These are rare and are hand-plucked during specific seasonal windows. They contain the highest natural concentrations of L-Theanine, providing a superior level of cognitive clarity that cannot be found in mass-market products.
Absolutely. Steeping tea at the correct temperature prevents the "burning" of delicate antioxidants and the over-extraction of bitter tannins. When you use water that is too hot, you destroy the L-theanine and volatile oils that support your metabolic and mental health. We provide specific temperature guides for each tier to ensure you are drinking for both cellular vitality and optimal flavour.
Darjeeling tea is harvested across different seasons, known as flushes, with each one offering a distinct character shaped by climate and time of harvest. First Flush teas, harvested in spring, are delicate, floral, and vibrant with fresh brightness. Second Flush teas, picked in summer, develop a fuller body with rich muscatel notes and deeper complexity. Autumn Flush teas are smooth, mellow, and comforting with gentle sweetness and soft toasty warmth.
Whole-leaf teas retain their natural structure, essential oils, and complexity. This allows the tea to evolve gradually through infusion, revealing greater depth, clarity, and layered flavour compared to broken leaves or tea dust. It also allows for multiple infusions, with each steep offering a slightly different expression of the tea.
Darjeeling tea is delicate and highly aromatic, so proper storage is essential to preserve its freshness and flavour. Store your tea in an airtight container away from light, heat, moisture, and strong odours. Keep it in a cool, dry place and avoid frequent exposure to air to maintain the tea’s natural character and aroma.
About Iliós Tea Studio
In a world driven by speed, we choose care
Iliós Tea Studio is dedicated to the deliberate craft of orthodox tea production, ensuring that the Camellia sinensis plant retains its true character in every batch.
The Three Pillars of Care
Hand-Plucked Selection
Our teas are hand-selected, often using only the bud and the youngest leaves. This deliberate approach preserves purity, balance, and natural nutrient density that machines cannot replicate.
Orthodox Craftsmanship
Traditional rolling and controlled oxidation allow the plant's natural chemistry to develop gradually. The result is layered complexity and a clean finish absent in industrial processing.
Uncompromised Purity
No dust. No fannings. No broken leaves. Only whole leaves are prepared to unfurl fully and express their natural character with clarity and balance.
Drink Real
Better health begins in your cup, not in a processing plant

Our Story
Our Philosophy
Darjeeling tea was meant to be an encounter, not a commodity. At Iliós Tea Studio, we honour the true character of Camellia sinensis, preserving the integrity of every whole leaf.
Our Commitment
We work exclusively with whole, hand-plucked leaves, often only the bud and youngest leaves, to preserve the plant's natural structure, balance, and integrity from garden to cup.
The true legacy of tea lies in the spirit of innovation. By embracing the same curiosity and creativity as the masters who came before us, we continue to venture into uncharted territory and redefine what is possible.
Of course, we take tea very seriously. But ourselves? Hey, not so much.
Along with the smile that a good cup of Iliós will naturally bring to your face, we like to serve up something a little, you know, unexpected on the side.
A little something for the soul.

What Tea Lovers Are Saying
4.7
Came across Iliós while reading about the founder's journey and passion for orthodox teas. Tried the Spring Oolong and was genuinely impressed, there is real attention to sourcing and craftsmanship here.
The Darjeeling Smoked Black is a touch too smoky for an everyday cup, but on a cold evening it is exactly right. Glad I gave it a go.
I usually don't write reviews, but the Spring Oolong earned it. Got three good infusions from the same leaves, each cup slightly different. Will reorder.
The Royal Orthodox Whole Leaf Masala reminded me what tea is supposed to taste like. Smoother and far less harsh than the CTC chai I had been drinking for years.
Bought the Signature Peony Rosette White Tea for the packaging and ended up loving the tea itself. Light, delicate, perfect in the evening.
The Darjeeling Whole Leaf Green has none of the bitterness I associate with green tea. Even my wife, who usually avoids it, drinks this one.
The White Tea Turmeric Ashwagandha took a couple of cups to grow on me, but it is now a fixture in my evening routine.
Ordered the Darjeeling Earl Grey for something different. The citrus is pleasant, though I would have liked the bergamot a shade stronger. Still a clean, lovely cup.
The Tulsi Green Tea with Ginger and Lemongrass is refreshing without tasting artificial. My standard after-lunch cup now.
I have tried a lot of masala teas and most are too spicy. The Royal Orthodox Masala is balanced, and you can actually taste the leaves.
The Darjeeling Winter Frost Black has a comforting richness. I have reached for it almost every morning since it arrived.
The Darjeeling Imperial Black was my first Iliós order. Fresh leaves, excellent aroma, genuinely good value for the quality.
The Darjeeling Breakfast has replaced my supermarket tea, cleaner and smoother. Takes a slightly longer steep to get right, but worth it.
The Sun-Kissed Nectar Oolong was a friend's recommendation and it has become my go-to while working from home.
